Parents Help Needed - University Project Research

27th February 2018

My name is Alexandra Wylie and I am currently a 4th year Product Design student at the University of Nottingham.

For my final project I am designing a form of seating for children with physical disabilities to be used within the home environment that will be height adjustable and allow manoeuvrability throughout the home.  The chair will provide lower back and lumbar support to allow them to sit upright when they may not do so unaided but will be designed to look like a desirable piece of furniture as opposed to a medical piece of equipment.

In order to inform my design I would appreciate feedback about existing products that you currently use within the home environment to provide structural support for children: the features these include (e.g. footrests, lumbar support, lap belts etc) what you like about these products and how you think they could be improved.

Any information you can provide me with would be gratefully appreciated to help me design a product that will fulfil both the child and the carer's needs.
