Independent parental supporters (IPS) are volunteers we have trained to support and advise parents of children with special educational needs. IPS help parents to play a more confident, active and informed part in their child’s education.
How an independent parental supporter can help.
They can help you by doing the following:
How the IPS scheme is run
Parent Partnership Service, runs the IPS scheme throughout Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County. Volunteers are trained to support families on educational issues. Volunteers are independent of the local education authority and are managed by the Parent Partnership Service.
How can you ask for support?
You can ask by contacting us (phone, fax or minicom: 0115 948 2888 or e-mail enquiries@ppsnotts.org.uk)
Your first contact will be with the Helpline Advisor who will talk to you and will refer your case to the Volunteer Support Worker if appropriate.
We are based in the voluntary sector and are supported by the Family Welfare Association and funded by Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.
