Parent Partnership Service recruits Independent Parental Supporters (IPS) and other volunteers to
- provide telephone helpline support and advice
- meet with parents to give them information and practical help
- accompany parents on school visits and to meetings
- help with administrative support
Do you think you have the following qualities to be a volunteer with the Parent Partnership Service?
Are you -
- able to be a good listener?
- able to view a situation from different points of view?
- able to inspire trust and confidence?
- willing to learn?
- open to asking questions about what you do and how you do it?
- able to develop positive relationships with a variety of people?
- able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people?
If you feel you have these qualities and are interested in exploring the possibility of being a volunteer we would love to hear from you.
We provide training for volunteers;
- a twelve session course which is accredited with the Open College Network (for IPS)
- ongoing support and training
Two participants on the IPS training course said
“I’ve gathered a wealth of information to help me with my own situation as well as helping those parents who just 'don’t know where to start' in getting the best support for their child in school.”
“The training has empowered me with knowledge in a friendly atmosphere.”
We provide support for volunteers;
- a Support Worker and other staff who are available for one-to-one advice and information
- small groups for supervision and support that meet once a term
- support group meetings, bringing together all volunteers once a term.
- being a volunteer with the Parent Partnership Service offers you ways of supporting people in a rewarding way
- space and support to learn and develop personally
- the opportunity to develop skills for employment and career
