The role of volunteers within the service has developed over the years and we are always willing to look at new ways of involving people.  All of our volunteers have DBS clearance before taking up their role.

We offer volunteers a number of different opportunities to use and develop their skills, and feel that both our service and customers benefit from the range of perspectives volunteers bring.

Most volunteers act as caseworkers alongside our paid staff; they undertake a range of casework according to the amount of time they wish to commit and can pick and choose their cases. Some people prefer to commit to covering a regular slot on our helpline, rather than trying to manage casework involving meetings for example.  As a volunteer, you can claim travel expenses for travel directly associated with your cases, plus other expenses such as postage.

Currently Recruiting

We are currently looking for Information, Advice and Support Volunteers to support the Ask Us Nottinghamshire service to provide high quality, confidential and impartial information, advice and support to families living in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire with children and young people with SEN and Disabilities (SEND) aged 0 to 25.

The volunteers support parents/carers, children and young people with issues relating to their education, social and health needs. Support is provided individually and in groups, offering telephone and face-to-face contact in order to improve outcomes for families with a child with SEND.
